With all the parts now made on the interior dash, centre console, tunnel cover and rear bin covers out of GRP and all the new wiring done it was time to get it all trim up. After many weeks and shows later, I new how I want it to look cream and black. So I took a trip to my local upholster which. We had a chat and work out what would look best and we had a look at all the different shades of creams and blacks. The upholster (Pete) said it would take him 10 days to do the work. But with the car book in at MITP 2005 with the 16v mini club time was not on my side. If All was to go well I would get the car back on the Friday evening levering me 1 day to fit it all back in ready for Sunday.
When the car was at the upholster I still had a few parts to get or make 1, steering wheel, gear knob, carpet and a steering column cover, with a trip to Demon Tweeks most part were found, but I still did not have a steering column, With me want now using a lot of aluminium I come up with the idea of having a aluminium steering column so once again I turn to a good friend to use his lathe. And thanks to his dad I had a aluminium column cover.
I had all the parts now all I had to do was wait to get it back from the upholster, I finally got it back about 6 in the evening on the Friday before MITP 2005 , all was good bar from the rear window screen had broke when Pete the upholster was re-fitting it. (see picture). My dad vacking the glass up.
All left to do was to clean everything and re-fit it all (see pictures)
